Church Tower Appeal
All Saints Church Ramsholt has been awarded a grant by the Heritage Lottery Fund in conjunction with the National Lottery and English Heritage, to complete a scheme for the urgent repairs to the church tower and community engagement in the form of activities and an oral history to be entitled ‘Ramsholt -A Living Memory. The PCC have been most fortunate to have been able to raise the necessary funds, thanks to the Heritage Lottery Fund, Garfield Weston, the Suffolk Historic Churches and the Round Tower Societies, together with numerous charities and private individuals and the work now has been successfully completed.
A Heritage Day was held last year to celebrate the start of this work and to introduce the ‘Ramsholt-A Living Memory’ project. Over 300 visitors attended and were able to visit the church, the old school house and the sites of the cottages that formed this rural hamlet. CDs are available featuring the subjects of the oral histories.
We still need help and funds to keep this beautiful old church intact. If you know anything about the history of Ramsholt or can help by donating to our fund, please contact Jo or Rob on 01394 411 586, or e-mail us from here>>
